First Swim Meet at Parkwood Commons
It's time to start planning for our first Meet on Thursday, June 2 at Parkwood Commons. We know last year was very different and we had no swim team in 2020, so we recommend everyone reads the "What to Expect at a Swim Meet" document on our website: https://leescrossing.
This year we are using our new website to sign up for Volunteer positions for the Meets as well as to let us know if your swimmer is attending the meet. It is currently live and you will need to log into your account you created when registering. The link to the Meet is found here: https://leescrossing.
- Please go to the following link (you can also do this on the app) https://leescrossing.
swimtopia.com/swim_meets - You will see all of the meets listed. The first one says "2022 Lee's Crossing at PCST Piranhas". You will click the green button that says "Meet Entry Open".
- You will need to log in using the information you created when you registered for the team.
- It should list all of your swimmers. You will click the drop down menu for each swimmer and say whether they are attending/not attending the meet. There is also a space for notes for the Coaches.
- Once you have saved it, you can go back and edit it as needed up until it closes on Tuesday, May 31 at 11:30pm. The coaches will be working on the line ups for the meets on Wednesday so please email us at [email protected] if your swimmer can no longer make it last minute.
- You should notice a yellow box at the top about signing up for a volunteer position. You may click "Sign up for job shifts" from this page to choose a volunteer slot. See below for details on how to sign up and skip to number 3.
If you have already let us know about your swimmer's availability for the meet and didn't choose a volunteer slot then. Here are the directions:
- Please go to the following link (you can also do this on the app) https://leescrossing.
swimtopia.com/swim_meets - You will see all of the meets listed. The first one says "2022 Lee's Crossing at PCST Piranhas". You will click the green button that says "Job Signup Open".
- The parent's names should be listed and you select whichever parent(s) is volunteering.
- A list of jobs will be there. Please pay attention to if it is a first half or second half volunteer position. Many jobs we need multiple people (like timers). If you click the little "i' it will give you more details about the position. There are a few that require very minimal training. This can be done in the morning during practice and/or before the meet starts.
- Just click the box to the left of the job you are signing up for and hit save assignment. You can always go back and edit it later if needed. Another great perk of this website and the app is that you can see what you have signed up to volunteer for easily.
Here are some details you need to know for Thursday's Meet (we are awaiting a few more specifics from the opposing team about parking, concession, etc and will email it out as soon as we have it):
- The address for the pool is 1300 Parkwood Chase Northwest, Acworth, GA 30102.
- Warm ups begin at 5:30pm. That means you will need to arrive prior to that so they can get in the pool at 5:30pm. The Meet starts at 6:00pm.
- Event Cards will be given out at practice on Thursday morning. We also encourage you to download the Swimtopia app because it will have your swimmer's events on the app for you once the Coaches put them in. NO MORE KEEPING UP WITH AN EVENT CARD! YAY!
- If you haven't subscribed to the Remind, text @lccyclones to 81010. This is how we will update if there is inclement weather.
Heather Harris and Laura Holder (just fyi she is out of town this week) are our Volunteer Coordinators this year. Please remember that every family must volunteer at 4 half meets. We have attached a copy of some of the job descriptions. If you have any questions, please ask Heather, Emily or Sarah at practice this week or email us.
The coaches are finishing up timing everyone. Just a friendly reminder that your swimmer does need to be able to get across the pool in a minute and a half (the younger kids can grab the lane ropes or side if needed) in order to swim in the meet. This is a league rule to ensure the meet doesn't last extra long. We will be emailing the parents of swimmers that aren't quite ready. Please know that if that is your swimmer, our coaches will make every effort to get them ready for future meets. In past years, we have never had a swimmer that wanted to swim in meets not be able to participate before the end of the season. We emailed the list of swimmers out so far on June 2. Please let us know if your swimmer will not be there on the website:
https://leescrossing.
. We have 166 swimmers on the team this year and can only swim 120 at the meet. If we don't have enough swimmers unavailable or not ready, we will have to sit swimmers. We are hoping not to have to do that this year if possible. Decisions will be made by the coaches based on attendance and readiness for the meet.
We know this is a ton of information, so please let us know if you have any questions. Reminder that there is NO PRACTICE ON MONDAY because of Memorial Day.
See you at the pool on Tuesday!
Sarah & Emily
