Patti Wilder County Meet Info

Sorry for 2 messages in one day, but didn't want to get information about our Home meet this week confused with Patti Wilder County Meet information. If you aren't interested, feel free to ignore this email :)

We wanted to let you know about an opportunity if your swimmer is interested. There is a County Meet called the Patti Wilder Meet on Saturday, June 17 for ages 5-10 and June 18 (keep in mind this is Father's Day unfortunately) for ages 11 and up. It is held at Mountain View Aquatic Center. Warm ups will start each day at 7:30am & the Meet will begin at 9:10am. This is an optional meet that you pay per event your child swims. The cost is $7 per individual event and $15 per relay divided between the 4 swimmers in your relay. Your swimmer may swim in 3 individual events and 2 relays. The only qualification is that your swimmer must be able to do a 25 freestyle and/or backstroke in less than 70 seconds (if you aren't sure, just ask us).

If your swimmer is one of the top 20 swimmers in their individual events (ages 7 & up), they will return that afternoon for the finals. For ages 5 & 6, their swims in the morning count as the finals.

There will be a practice at Mountain View Aquatic Center on Friday evening. This is a great chance for your swimmer to see what their blocks look like and practice swimming in an indoor pool.

If your swimmer would like to participate, please email us back and let us know that they are interested, You can choose the events they swim in. You can also ask the coaches for input into what they recommend. We have to register, so our team deadline to sign up is Thursday, June 8. Once we know how many kids we have and if we can do relays, we will give you the final total cost that can be paid via cash, check or on Venmo.

This is a very fun meet that allows your swimmer to swim against kids in different leagues around Cobb County. We have had some great successes. There are ribbons and medals given out after the Meet as well. If your child does well, they could go on to State to compete. We have had swimmers go all the way to state.

Here is the information from the County Website: https://www.cobbcounty.org/parks/recreation/aquat... There is all of the information you want to know including seeing the results from last year's meet so that you see how your swimmer would compare. This is a good way to also help decide what events they want to do. Remember it is not just about being fast, but also about ensuring they do a "legal stroke" every single time. If you aren't sure, please let us know and we can talk to the coaches.

Let us know if you have any questions.
