Busy Weeks Ahead-Next Home Meet, 3 Amigos Spirit Night, Picture Day & Patti Wilder County Meet

Dear Cyclone Families,

We have a very busy couple of weeks coming up. Please make sure to read all info and respond as needed.

1. Our next meet is coming up this Thursday. As a reminder, this is our meet with just our team. Sign ups are open to declare if your swimmer can be there and for volunteer slots. As a reminder, they will close Tuesday evening.

  • What will be different? We will only be swimming against those on our team. We will need all hands on deck as we have to run all 6 lanes with our families. The meet should end quicker since we won't have as many heats with less swimmers.
  • What will be the same? We will still be competing in our normal events. We will still have ribbons and you can still break your personal records. We will still have concessions.
  • If you have a swimmer that hasn't quite been ready for meets yet, this is a great way to try it out. We can even use kickboards if that makes them feel more comfortable. We won't have a time limitation either.
  • If your swimmer was originally practices only and wants to swim in the meet, that is fine too. Just email us back so we can get them added to Swimtopia.
  • If your swimmer was an alternate, they can definitely swim in this meet. If they aren't registered in Swimtopia, please email us back and we will get them added.
2. Our 3 Amigos Spirit Night is coming up on Monday, June 8 in the evening. It is kids eat free night. Also if you wear your Cyclones shirt, you can get a free sopapilla and ice cream!
3. Picture Day is next Friday, June 12. CL!X will be out once again taking our team photo. All swimmers should arrive at 9am. They will take individual and/or family photos of your swimmer. You will receive an email with a preview of the photo to decide if you would like to purchase it. We will also take a group photo. Please have your swimmer wear their bathing suit and Cyclones shirt for this year. If they can't find it, they could wear one from a previous year too. After we take the group photo, we will let the kids have donuts, ribbons and fun swim till 11am.4. It is also time to start thinking about the optional Patti Wilder County Meet. It is June 26-28 this year. They are also doing things a bit differently as it has exploded with participants.
  • On Friday, June 26, swimmers ages 13-18 will have their prelims in the morning and finals in the afternoon.
  • On Saturday, June 27, swimmers ages 9-12 will have their prelims in the morning and finals in the afternoon.
  • On Sunday, June 28, swimmers ages 5-8 will have finals only in the morning.
It is held at Mountain View Aquatic Center. Warm ups will typically start each day at 7:30am & the Meet will begin at 9:10am. This is an optional meet that you pay per event your child swims. The cost is $7 per individual event and $15 per relay divided between the 4 swimmers in your relay. Swimmers ages 7-18 may swim in 3 individual events and 2 relays. Swimmers ages 5 & 6 may swim in two individual events and 1 relay. The only qualification is that your swimmer must be able to do a 25 freestyle and/or backstroke in less than 70 seconds (if you aren't sure, just ask us).

For ages 5-8, their swims in the morning count as the finals. If your swimmer is one of the top 20 swimmers in their individual events (ages 9 & up), they will return that afternoon for the finals.
If your swimmer would like to participate, please complete this Google form:https://forms.gle/1u4iCZ3pXZC7haf56. You can choose the events they swim in. You can also ask the coaches for input into what they recommend. Remember when selecting events, it is not just about being fast, but also about ensuring they do a "legal stroke" every single time. If you aren't sure, please let us know and we can talk to the coaches.
We have to register, so our team deadline to sign up is Thursday, June 11. Once we know how many kids we have and if we can do relays, we will give you the final total cost that can be paid via cash, check or on Venmo. This is a very fun meet that allows your swimmer to swim against kids in different leagues around Cobb County. We have had some great successes. There are ribbons and medals given out after the Meet as well. If your child does well, they could go on to State to compete. We have had swimmers go all the way to state.

 Have a great weekend!
